If you don’t know much about the .300 BLK then read this article at Cheaper Than Dirt. I can’t decide if I want to build an AR in 300 BLK or buy a Remington 700 in 300 BLK. I think I’m going to wait on the Remington because I may build one at the gunsmith school.

In a recent Gun Nuts Media post Caleb writes that he doesn’t ” ‘get’ rifles”. I guess if I’m understanding him correctly he means he doesn’t understand the use of rifles and why people buy rifles. I don’t really want to criticize this statement anymore because I may be misunderstanding him. Caleb may not understand rifles because he comes from a pistol shooting world. I, on the other hand come from a rifle/shotgun world and I totally get why people use rifles. I come from parents who don’t know anything about guns and have never done anything with them. Barely have seen any in real life. So I was introduced to firearms mainly by my grandfather. And my grandfather used rifles because they are the most practical to hunt with.

Caleb also writes about the Ruger Number one and how great it is and how he would use it in a zombie apocalypse. I don’t want to discuss the malarky surrounding this ridiculous zombie apocalypse idea in the firearm world. I’m hoping/know Caleb is joking about all that. I really am not a fan of that Number 1 rifle. I want to be able to have at least one round quickly available if I’m bothering to carry a rifle. Especially one used for BIG game. A rhino charging rhino is not fun to be coming at you.  Ya some people will argue you should only need one shot but a lot of the time/most of the time I shoot multiple targets within 5 seconds. Like 5 deer on a dead sprint 4 feet in front of me. Killed the two I shot at. That was a crazy day. I’m not going to disagree, the number one is beautiful rifle but not the rifle for me.

I talked to Mike Mers from AAC about their 300 BLK uppers early on and now they have released full rifles. Too bad I could never own one in NYS. I really like this round. I’d love to do some testing with it. I’d like one of their Remington 700′s in 300 BLK.

I’m constantly thinking about what my next gun will be. I may build an AR in 300 BLK if I have the money. I’m thinking this rifle will be strictly for hunting. So a 20″ barrel will be on it and it’ll have a fixed stock to abide by NYS laws. Also I’ll have a flash hider pinned and welded. I’ll probably go with AAC’s Blackout muzzle brake. But I really have to be sure as to which muzzle brake I want. It’d be nice to have a flash hider on the rifle but that’s not happening here.

Finally Kel-Tec is expanding production. They have some really radical designed firearms and I think they can get somewhere if they aren’t already “there” yet.

This video of two officers shooting a man with a crow bar is absolutely insane. I’m all for police use of deadly force, WHEN NECESSARY! In this case it was absolutely unnecessary. I just feel that it wasn’t a big enough threat to use deadly force on the man. Why was the officer holding his pistol sideways right before he went to shoot? Do they not teacher officers how to hold a pistol!? It is completely insane why you would need to shoot someone ten times from 5 feet away that has a god damn crowbar/axe. But I want it to be clear that I don’t hate police and always criticize them. Some officers just need to be trained a little more and funding is very low for training. But it’s possible to train officers! I know of a department near me that has the officers shoot at least 500 rounds a year. That’s just one tiny part of the training but officers don’t even need to shoot their handgun once a year. They aren’t required to. I just feel that if you are going to carry a handgun everyday you damn well be able to shoot it well. Same as the long guns in the patrol vehicles. All I have to say is these two officers that shot the man better be getting in trouble for this nonsense. If a person came into my house with a crowbar and came towards me I would get in trouble if I shot the man 10 times.

Wow, never knew Ed Brown was a stuck up asshole. Hate people like that. Why would you come to SHOT if you don’t want to talk to people?! Hope Ed Brown sales take a dump.

My blog seems to be getting more views lately but it looks like it’s because of my brother’s photographs of my AR-15. I guess the photos are his art and the rifle is my art.

For some reason I feel 1911′s shouldn’t have polymer frames. Although I’m sure I’ll get over that soon or when I shoot a polymer framed 1911. I wonder how a polymer framed 1911′s performance compares to a standard 1911. Seems like firearm manufacturers are leaning towards polymer frames. In any other cases I love polymer frames but for some reason I don’t like the idea of a polymer 1911. Maybe it’s tradition.

The new Benelli M4 has an MSRP of $2300?! They must be out of their mind. They are out of their mind. I couldn’t ever justify buying a semi auto shotgun for $2300. Ya sure it’s coated with some fancy Robar NP3 finish and is made by Benelli. I just couldn’t talk myself into buying that. It’s like trying to make excuses as to why I need an AK. I don’t. Unless I’m going to be shooting in a super dirty environment and I’ll never get the chance to clean my rifle. I’m the kind of person that wants practicality when I buy firearms. Will this work for what I want to use it for? Is this really necessary?

Uh Oh, I may have a big change of jobs this summer! It’s not 100% but they are trying to make something happen for me.

Delta Spirit’s “Bushwick Blues”

There’s a chance I will be writing a blog for a company. I’m not going to say much because there’s always the chance it won’t happen. I’m really hoping I will be able to write for them. It’ll give me something to do and I’d love to write for them.

I couldn’t stop laughing while watching this “training video”. Are they serious about juggling those logs or giant things of bamboo or whatever the hell they are. I just don’t understand how they think ANY of that is going to help you in the real world.

I’ve always liked CZ’s Dan Wesson 1911′s. A bit out of my price range but great quality pistols. Hopefully I can get my hands on one someday. Maybe The Specialists will get some.

Just had to write for a class why I want an education not a degree. Then the professor there’s no right or wrong answer, as long as you are honest. I wrote about why I want a degree and not an education. If you think about my situation and the fact that there’s no need for me to get an education for criminal justice if I want to be a police officer or a gunsmith. I will learn everything I need to in the academy or a gunsmith school. The reason I’m going to a four year school for criminal justice is because I’m interested in criminal justice and I need a four year degree to give myself a better chance to get a job. And I might as well do something productive till I’m 21. If I really get sick of it here I may just go work at the farm full time and gain a lot more responsibilities there. But I really want to get a four year degree.

Thishandstop kit is definitely something I’m going to get one it comes out. Seems like it’d be less bulky and do the same thing as their vertical foregrip.

I hopefully can keep writing here during school. Seems like I will have a lot of time in between classes. I hope this semester flies by. I’m taking some interesting sounding classes so it should fly by.

I’ve always been liking the look of these Silencerco suppressors. Another interesting suppressor design is PWS’s. I really like their muzzle devices. Classes start tomorrow.

Rock Island did a fabulous job on this 1911. That is only going on the looks of it but I know Rock Island makes some superb firearms.

If you haven’t seen this clip of the guys from the real Top Gear shooting a Berretta and a AR then you should probably watch it. Love that show. The american Top Gear is no where near as well done as the English Top Gear. I can’t stand any of the guys on the American one. Nice try guys.

This new rifle, The Dimension, made by Thompson Center sounds like it will be great. I’d probably get the B package. I know it will be outrageously expensive because it’s TC. Maybe I’ll get dealer price. Actually I know I will. If I were to buy one. I’d really like one but I have other rifles and handguns in mind.

One more day of freedom then off to school.  I’ll be home a lot I know that.

I’ll be posting some cool things OTHER people post from SHOT. Someday I’ll be going to SHOT. This polymer cased ammunition intrigued me when it first came out. I’d love to order 500 rounds of it. Or at least 50 .308 rounds. Sounds pretty awesome if you ask me.

Another polymer product that just was unveiled was the Mossberg Tactical 464 SPX Lever Action . Pretty sweet but at the same time a little too much. I’m all for rails and adjustable stocks but there’s just something about lever action that screams old west and when it screams old west it screams wood stock. But in the end I probably would take one. Too bad I live in a state where communism takes reign.

This Sig 1911 with “Come Take” written in Greek is pretty awesome. Usually once again I hate writing on firearms but I like this one. Very neat, as in organized and looks good. One complaint is the helmet on the grip. Kinda lame…

I think my first shot was out of my grandfather’s Savage .22 bolt action. Or at least I’d like to think it was my first shot. It was probably on the farm with Pop in front of a brush pile shooting birds from 10 feet away. He was a good man. I can’t remember if that was my first shot but he bought me my first rifle. Savage 93R17. Still love that rifle as if I got it the other day.

I guess I’m a little confused why this new Colt rifle is so great? Its just another AR. Any AR you can swap the uppers to 308. Oh well. Maybe someday I’ll understand why people think it’s God.

Oh, I’ll update everyone (not that anyone cares) on the polymer 5 round magazine for the Ruger Scout I have. I sent the magazine back to Ruger and they will send me a replacement. Idiots. I had to twist their arm so they would reimburse me for shipping it to them. Your product is defective so I have to pay to ship it back!? No no no no. wrong.

I’ve always been draw to the Keltec KSG for some reason. Maybe its the futuristic design or the polymer. But once again, I have no use for one. Well I can always think of some uses for one but legitimate ones I cannot think of. Ya one could say I could use it for home defense but I’ve got other guns that will do the same thing just as well if not better and they have more uses than home defense.

I hate politics but I want a president that supports the 2nd amendment. Maybe Mitt Romney is one? I don’t really get into politics much. I try to stay away from government. Probably because I can’t stand 95% of it.

I’ve always been jealous of Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman’s motorcycle rides. I think their rides have made my brother and I want to go across the country on bikes. We just need more comfortable bikes and lots of money. We really would like to do a show while we ride. Like a video diary.

I loaded up my 5 round polymer mag that I just got for my scout and it loads much nicer and easier than the 10 round steel magazine but it’s much harder to insert into the rifle. I’ve got to call Ruger back and send the magazine back and they will send me a new one.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned my obsession with the Sturmgewehr 44 but I love them. I really would like an original from ww2. Maybe that will be my goal in gun collecting. Well this STG in .22 is kind of cool. I just hate things that are meant to be in a larger caliber but they’ve been made into .22. Like an MP5. Although I like the idea of an AR in .22. Yes it gets boring after about 50 rounds but that cost you about 2 bucks so it makes it fun. Especially running drills with a .22 AR.

Counting down the days till school. Dreading the day I have to leave for school. I just have to make it through two years at this school then I can have fun at gunsmith school.
